It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood

Kristine and I both had the day off on Thursday to enjoy at our leisure. We went along Highway 1 in Half Moon Bay and stopped along our way south. First off was Pescadero. We enjoyed the famous Arcangeli Grocery's artichoke garlic herb bread. (Fun side note: It's still a family business.Young Mitch at the register is the great grandson of the original Arcangeli.)
The bread lived up to the hype. It was awesome.

It was a little piece of paradise to sit on a picnic bench in the green backyard with the sun on our backs - eating our warm delicious bread.

Next we got some Olallieberry pie to go from Duarte's. (Which is also a bit famous.)

Our final stop in Pescadero was Harley Farms Goat Dairy. It was charming and picturesque. Dee was a friendly host. The goat cheeses were readily available to sample. The cheese rounds were decorated with wildflowers. It seemed a shame to ruin the beauty to eat one.

Pigeon Point lighthouse has always been a favorite stop of mine. The weather was bright and clear. It was the perfect place to enjoy our Olallieberry pie.

Finally, we picked sun-ripened strawberries at Swanton. It couldn't have been a better day.

Yeah, your strawberry farm looks a lot nicer than ours! That bread sounds delicious. What's a Olallieberry?

Daish, here's what wiki has to say:
The olallieberry is a cross between the loganberry and the youngberry, each of which is itself a cross between blackberry and another berry (raspberry and dewberry, respectively).
Selected in 1937 and tested in Oregon, Washington and California as 'Oregon 609', it was renamed 'Olallie' and released in 1950.[1] While primarily developed in Oregon, it has never been very productive there and is therefore primarily grown in California.

What a fun day. I have sat on that same bench eating that same bread on a hot day (70's) in December when I was cutting down my 13 foot christmas tree last year. It was great!
